Chairman of NPC: Census Efforts in Full Swing

In a recent statement, Mr. Isa Kwarra, the Chairman of the National Population Commission, affirmed that the commission is exerting tireless efforts towards the upcoming National Population and Housing Census.

Emphasizing the importance of this initiative in addressing Nigeria’s socio-economic challenges, Kwarra highlighted the role of the census in providing essential and current data for informed decision-making and planning.

Asserting the commission’s dedication to its role as Nigeria’s primary data-generating agency, Kwarra reiterated their commitment to producing reliable demographic data to support national development.

In light of potential nationwide protests, Kwarra appealed to all Nigerians to prioritize peace and urged them to refrain from participating in any disruptive activities.

Recognizing the right to peaceful assembly, the chairman underscored the importance of upholding national stability and security.

Encouraging trust in the government’s efforts, Kwarra emphasized President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to addressing the country’s challenges and delivering on promises for a better Nigeria.

Highlighting government programs aimed at improving living standards, Kwarra mentioned initiatives such as the Social Investment Programmes, Agricultural and Food Security Initiatives, and Infrastructure Development projects.

Additionally, he mentioned the implementation of the Student Loan Scheme, designed to support Nigerian youths.

While acknowledging ongoing hardships, Kwarra urged Nigerians to remain calm and focused, avoiding actions that could jeopardize national peace and stability.

Recent reports indicate preparations for a peaceful nationwide protest from August 1-10, with concerns over the resources expended for the suspended 2023 census led by Kwara.

The NPC revealed its readiness to commence the census pending consent from Tinubu, following the postponement initiated due to the 2023 election campaigns.

The exercise, originally slated for 2022, was halted by former President Muhammadu Buhari and remains on hold until new dates are announced by Tinubu.
