Igbo World Congress Appeals to Tinubu for the Political Release of Nnamdi Kanu

President Bola Tinubu has been urged by the World Igbo Congress, WIC, to politically release Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.

WIC expressed the belief that Tinubu’s decision to release the incarcerated IPOB leader since June 2021 would be recorded in history.

In a statement issued by Chairman Festus Okere and Secretary-General Chris Ogara, WIC also recognized the recent significant meeting of Southeast governors with distinguished personalities, including the Obi of Onitsha, concerning Kanu’s ongoing detention.

The statement emphasized the unanimous decision of the governors to seek a meeting with President Ahmed Tinubu to secure the release of Nnamdi Kanu, which they deemed long overdue.

“Time is the soul of the world. A prolonged inaction destroys peoples’ hope. Let actions speak louder than voice,” the statement highlighted.

WIC reiterated its firm support for the governors on this critical issue and commended all individuals who have consistently advocated for Kanu’s release.

Once again, WIC called on President Tinubu to politically release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, underscoring the importance of historical accountability.
