Fire Breaks Out at Russian Oil Depot for 48 Hours Following Ukraine Attack

After a Ukrainian drone attack, Russia reported that it successfully put out a fire at an oil depot which had been burning for two days.

In retaliation for Russian airstrikes on its cities and power stations, Kyiv has targeted numerous Russian energy facilities and oil depots over the past year.

On Tuesday, Alexei Smirnov, the governor of the Kursk border region, confirmed the successful extinguishing of the oil depot fire.

Following a Ukrainian drone attack early Sunday morning, three fuel tanks were struck, as reported by Smirnov on Telegram. Fortunately, there were no casualties.

Ukraine’s General Staff claimed responsibility for targeting the Polyova oil depot in Russia’s Kursk region, located just across the border from Ukraine.

Kyiv defended the attack on the depot by stating that it supports the needs of the Russian military, according to the general staff.
