Call for Increased Transparency: Retired Administrators Advocating for More Clarity in Hajj Operations

Discussing the 2024 Hajj activities, the National Association of Retired Hajj Administrators of Nigeria (NARHAN) expressed their contentment with the overall execution despite pre-Hajj challenges. NARHAN comprises former Executive Secretaries of States Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Boards and seasoned veterans in national Hajj operations.

In a statement jointly signed by their chairman, Alhaji Bukar Kime Dapsa, Secretary Bako Apapa, and Group’s Technical/Media Adviser Ibrahim Muhammed, the association commended NAHCON, airlines, and other stakeholders for the seamless airlift operations during the 2024 Hajj season.

Highlighting the successful aspects of the Hajj, they also acknowledged areas needing enhancement for future exercises. They particularly lauded the medical team for their dedicated service, especially amidst challenging conditions including extreme heat waves in Masha’ir areas.

Recognizing improvements in feeding arrangements and expanded Tent ‘D’ spaces in Mina this year, they called for better planning to cater to the needs of pilgrims more effectively, emphasizing the importance of transparency in financial interventions during Hajj operations.

The retired administrators pledged to actively oversee the preparations for the 2025 Hajj within the purview of State Pilgrims Welfare Boards. They also committed to leveraging their expertise to educate both Nigerian pilgrims and Hajj administrators on avoiding operational conflicts during the pilgrimage.

As part of their ongoing efforts, the NARHA intends to host a Hajj press conference to address pressing issues that require prompt responses from the apex Hajj regulatory body, indicating their commitment to ensuring a more transparent approach for the upcoming 2025 Hajj.
