Charly Boy Urges Nigerians to Avoid Negativity in Peter Obi vs Kenneth Okonkwo Dispute

Renowned entertainer, Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has advised Nigerians to refrain from making negative comments towards former Labour Party member, Kenneth Okonkwo, amid his criticisms of the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

Over the weekend, Okonkwo, previously the spokesperson for the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential campaign, revealed his decision to exit the party and the Obidient movement.

In a social media post, Okonkwo primarily blamed Obi for the party’s internal crisis.

In response, Obi clarified that Okonkwo was not working against the interests of the Labour Party despite his disapproval of him.

Addressing the situation, Charly Boy emphasized that holding a differing opinion from the former presidential candidate should not lead to animosity.

Taking to X, the entertainer expressed, “PO has a remarkable ability to turn significant time and effort spent on baseless attacks against him into a futile exercise.

“Conflict and diverse perspectives are inherent in any community, society, or movement, and it is crucial to uphold mutual respect and decorum even amid disagreements.

“Dissenting views should not automatically label someone as an adversary, and it is vital to engage in constructive discussions rather than resorting to personal insults or negative comments.

“Personally, I am not inclined to collaborate with individuals who always share my views because, as a leader, absorbing knowledge and being receptive are fundamental leadership qualities. I value hearing perspectives contrary to mine and making efforts to persuade others or consider their suggestions if they hold merit.”
