The Oba of Benin’s Plea to Nigerians Regarding the Planned Protest

Encouraging a thoughtful approach, the Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, has urged those advocating for a nationwide protest against the Federal Government due to the economic challenges in the country to reconsider their plans.

In a statement released in Benin City on Wednesday and signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Osaigbobo Iguobaro, the Benin Monarch appealed to the public to grant the government sufficient time to implement its economic strategies aimed at easing the current hardships faced by Nigerians.

It is worth noting that some youths had proposed a 10-day nationwide hunger and hardship protest starting on August 1, 2024, to raise awareness to the deteriorating conditions in the country.

The Oba expressed the view that enduring temporary difficulties may be necessary for future improvements to materialize.

Furthermore, he called upon the federal government to escalate its efforts in executing both its economic and security initiatives.
