Massive Police Operation Leads to Arrest of 90 Suspects in Lagos

A group of male suspects totaling 90 were apprehended by the Rapid Response Squad of the Lagos State Police Command following a late-night raid on suspected criminal elements on Tuesday.

In collaboration with Area A Command, the operation was targeted at well-known trouble spots in Obalende, Adeniji, and Lagos Island within the state.

On Wednesday, the RRS released a statement on their Facebook page, announcing the successful operation.

According to the statement, “Last night’s operation saw operatives of the Rapid Response Squad, in conjunction with Area A Command, executing a raid on 90 suspects in Obalende, Adeniji, and Lagos Island.

“Beginning around midnight, the teams scoured known trouble spots in Obalende, Adeniji, and Lagos Island. The objective was to combat criminal activities prevalent in those areas.”

All the suspects have been transferred to the Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Unit for thorough investigation and subsequent legal proceedings, as stated in the release.

The statement also revealed that the RRS Commander, CSP Shola Jejeloye, has directed an expansion of the squad’s operations to include Lekki, Jakande Roundabout, and V.G.C.

“This expansion is to supplement the agency’s ongoing vehicular patrol along the Lekki-Epe Expressway and to address the nuisance caused by troublemakers harassing motorists in traffic on the highway,” it elaborated.

Back in April, as reported by PUNCH Online, RRS agents apprehended 43 suspects from various black spots in Oshodi and its vicinity during a late-night operation.
