Federal Government’s Commitment to Addressing Oil Theft

Heineken Lokpobiri, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), has emphasized the Federal Government’s determination to combat pipeline vandalism and oil theft.

In a statement released to NewsNow on Wednesday, Lokpobiri assured that steps would be taken to create a favorable business environment for both National Oil Companies and International Oil Companies.

According to Lokpobiri, “President Bola Tinubu’s administration is dedicated to providing a conducive business climate for National Oil Companies and International Oil Companies through the eradication of pipeline vandalization and oil theft.”

Lokpobiri made these remarks while announcing a partnership between the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources and Great Minds Events for the inaugural Africa Oil and Gas Digital Transformation Conference 2024, scheduled for September 3-4, 2024, in Lagos, Nigeria.

He further stated, “This conference aims at not only boosting production but also ensuring that all Nigerians benefit from it. The Petroleum Industry Act has brought about a transformation in the energy sector through a supportive regulatory framework that ensures transparency and encourages investment.

“It is our collective duty to safeguard our environment, our resources, and the livelihoods of those in oil-producing regions.”

The statement also mentioned that the conference will explore the evolving challenges and opportunities arising from digital transformation in the oil and gas sector.

“The event will include speeches and panel discussions by industry experts, with participation from ExxonMobil Nigeria and KPMG. Attendees can engage in networking sessions, one-on-one interactions with key opinion leaders, and view an exhibition showcasing cutting-edge solutions.

“Over time, Great Minds Events has forged strong partnerships and consistently organizes impactful industry conferences. The organization believes that collaborating with innovative companies will propel the essential digital transformation in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector, shaping the future of Africa’s oil and gas industry,” the statement concluded.
