Russian government offers Moscow residents up to $22,000 to participate in Ukraine conflict

In a bid to boost troop numbers, Moscow authorities are providing a significant signing bonus to individuals willing to fight in Ukraine.

Reports from CNN highlight Russia’s ongoing struggle to recruit soldiers for its invasion of Ukraine, with Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin now announcing an unprecedented one-time bonus of 1.9 million rubles (equivalent to around $22,000) for city residents who choose to join the military.

The substantial financial incentive, according to Sobyanin, is aimed at attracting new recruits and supporting President Vladimir Putin’s military campaign.

Individuals accepting this offer could potentially earn up to 5.2 million rubles ($59,600) in their first year of service.

Furthermore, those ready to join the conflict in Ukraine may also be eligible for one-time cash payments ranging from $5,690 to $11,390 for injuries, depending on their severity. In addition, the family of a soldier who is killed in action could receive a payment of $34,150.
