Ex-govs Matawalle, Yari are not APC leaders in Zamfara – Marafa’s loyalist

The former Commandant of Zamfara State Anti-Thuggery Agency, Muhammad Bello Bakyasuwa, has given reasons why members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, faction being led by Senator Kabiru Garba Mafara have no confidence in two former governors of the state, Bello Matawalle and Abdul’aziz Abubakar Yari.

Bakyasuwa, a former Director Security Affairs under former governor Bello Matawalle’s administration, explained that the selfish leadership style of Yari and Matawalle was the major reason for the party’s failure in the 2023 election in the state.

This was contained in a statement he personally signed and made available to newsmen in Gusau, Zamfara State capital, on Thursday.

Parts of the statement read, “Lack of competent leadership in our party in the state is responsible for disunity and instability which led to various factions in the party.

“Matawalle’s appointment as Minister of State, Defence, did not yielded any positive impact to the State, especially towards addressing the lingering security challenges facing the state.

“Senator Yari who is chairman, Senate Committee on Water Resources and a strong pillar in the Senate is not doing much as expected in the state but busy pursuing his selfish political interest”

“It is very unfortunate that the two leaders in the APC-led Federal Government failed to perform effectively, they failed to meet the expectations of the common man as regards to addressing security challenges.

“As far as I am concerned, Zamfara State has no valid representation in the Tinubu-led APC administration.

“Zamfara is one of the states in Northern Nigeria that voted President Bola Ahmad Tinubu massively in 2023 under the effort of Presidential Campaign Coordinator, Sen Kabiru Marafa.

“Despite the contribution of Sen Marafa for APC’s victory in the 2023 presidential elections in the state, some selfish and incompetent politicians are misusing the opportunity given to them to represent the state in the Federal Government.

“The so called APC leadership in the state under Tukur Umar Danfulani have no capacity to run the affairs of the party to record victory in the future elections in the state.

“Tukur Danfulani is not a lawful member of the party as he was sacked by his ward executives of the party, the Galadima APC Ward Executives in Gusau Local Government Area.

“I wonder how a sacked member of the party should be allowed to be parading him self as the party chairman in the state.

“Only Sen Marafa-led APC leadership group can take the party to the victory in the 2027 general elections.

“Senator Marafa remains the only APC leader in the state.”
