Zamfara govt secures conviction of bandits, related offenders


The Zamfara State Attorney-General and Commissioner of Justice, Abdulraziz Sani has said the state government recently secured the conviction of five criminals, under banditry-related charges in the state.

The State Attorney General disclosed this to NewsNow in Gusau, explaining that one of the convicts was sentenced to death while others were sentenced to years of imprisonment.

“My ministry is currently prosecuting some cases in court to serve as a deterrent to other criminals and to end the prolonged banditry activities in the state ”, he added.

The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice also pointed out that Executive Order number 07, restricting motorcycles in the state from moving at night was enacted due to the incessant attacks, abduction of people for ransom and killing of innocent citizens by terror groups and was aimed to stop the menace.

He urged the residents to give total support and cooperation to the state government to succeed in tackling the ravaging insecurity and to restore peace and normalcy to the state.

Sani informed that Mobile court has been established to try offenders of Executive Order number 07 which restricts the movement of motorcycles from 8:00 pm to 6:00 am.
