An altercation occurred between Senator Dino Melaye, the Kogi State governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2023 election, and former Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, during the PDP North Central Zone leadership meeting.
Senator Melaye took to his X handle on Thursday to explain that the clash arose from Ortom’s public support for President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress in the 2027 election.
Expressing his surprise, Melaye questioned Ortom’s attendance at a PDP meeting following his declaration of support for Tinubu. This led to the confrontation at the PDP North Central Zone leadership meeting.
He also shared a video from the altercation, originally posted by #iamhistory_, where Melaye was seen confronting Ortom during the meeting.
The video caption mentioned how Melaye publicly criticized Ortom for attending a PDP meeting despite his perceived anti-party activities, leading to a heated exchange between the two politicians.
PUNCH previously reported Ortom’s remarks in January regarding the alleged support of former PDP governors, known as G5, for Tinubu’s second term bid in 2027.
