Trump celebrates the death of Robert Mueller, former prosecutor who investigated him for the alleged Russian plot: "I'm glad he died"

Robert Mueller, the former FBI director and former prosecutor who led the investigation into the Russian government’s alleged meddling in Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign, has died at the age of 81. News that the American president has publicly celebrated through his social networks: “Robert Mueller has just died. Well, I’m glad he’s dead. He won’t be able to hurt innocent people anymore!”

Mueller, who was diagnosed with Parkinson’s last year, was the sixth director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). He came to office only a week before the 9/11 attacks and headed the organization between 2001 and 2013.

During his mandate, after the tragedy that marked the country, he was in charge of modernizing the structure of the agency. In addition, he got several of his operatives to be among the first to denounce the abuses committed in the secret prisons of the Central Intelligence Agency in different parts of the world.

Special prosecutor appointed to investigate Trump

Mueller’s name returned to the spotlight in 2017, when he was appointed special prosecutor by the Department of Justice to investigate Trump for alleged interactions with a Russian plot that would have helped the Republican win the 2016 presidential election.

However, the investigation did not gather conclusive evidence of collusion between Russia and the Trump campaign. On the other hand, Europa Press says that it did demonstrate Moscow’s interference and the interest of the US president’s campaign in it by assuming the premise that it would benefit them.

For his part, Trump has argued on several occasions that this investigation is “a witch hunt” and an attempted “coup” to put an end to him, in addition to having accused Mueller of conflict of interest and his subordinates of being “gangsters” for Democratic political purposes.

Ultimately, Mueller’s investigation resulted in criminal charges being filed against 34 Russian individuals and three entities. Among those convicted or who have pleaded guilty is Trump’s former campaign manager.
