Members of Miyetti Allah protest at Abuja court, seek release of president

A group of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore members assembled at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday, advocating for the immediate release of their president, Bello Bodejo.

The arrest of Bodejo occurred on January 23 at Miyetti Allah’s office in Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State following the announcement of a vigilante faction.

Since his apprehension, Bodejo has been in the custody of the Defence Intelligence Agency.

On February 5, the Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), submitted a motion ex-parte requesting Bodejo’s detainment until the conclusion of investigations and subsequent court arraignment.

In response, Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court sanctioned a 15-day remand for Bodejo.

Following this period, the court mandated the Federal Government to formalize charges against Bodejo within seven days.

During the proceedings on February 22, the judge reiterated the seven-day deadline for the FG to file charges.

Bodejo’s legal representative subsequently lodged a motion seeking his immediate release.

This motion is scheduled for review today.
