Another Pelicot case in Sweden: the 'angel from hell' who sold his wife to a hundred men to rape her

The Swedish Prosecutor’s Office is investigating a man suspected of having sold his wife for years to more than a hundred men for sexual services, as reported on Tuesday by public television SVT. The individual, who has been detained since October following a complaint from his wife, with whom he is in divorce proceedings, is being investigated for serious pimping.

“I consider that we are talking about large-scale pimping and that it involved inconsiderate exploitation of the plaintiff,” said lead prosecutor Ida Annerstedt in statements to the public broadcaster Radio Sweden.

Financial compensation

The individual, a resident of the town of Ångermanland (northern Sweden), obtained financial compensation in exchange for his services throughout the time he offered his wife’s body to strangers.

According to SVT, the services it offered included all types of meetings, both physical and online. These took place over a period of approximately three and a half years, in which up to 120 men may have been involved.

Punishment for abuse and coercion

Given the seriousness of what happened, the Prosecutor’s Office plans to file a formal accusation on March 13. Weeks later the trial of the victim’s husband would be held.

It must be remembered that the detainee was already investigated two years ago for abusing his wife, although the case was finally closed. Now, the sixty-year-old pleads innocent in the case, which remains under summary secrecy according to the aforementioned media.

The man, who in the past was linked to the ‘Hell’s Angels’ motorcycle gang, has previously been convicted of mistreatment and coercion, among other crimes, and served a five-month prison sentence, according to Swedish media.

a bitter memory

The case has provoked comparisons with that of the Frenchwoman Gisèle Pelicot, whose husband was sentenced to 20 years in prison for having offered her to fifty people to be raped while she was drugged between 2011 and 2020.
