Allegations Against Aiyedatiwa by Group for Allegedly Rewarding Opponents with Appointments

Accusations have been made by the Akoko Progressive Movement, APM, a group affiliated with the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ondo State, against Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa over allegations of granting appointments to individuals who were not supportive of the party during the 2023 primary elections.

In a statement released by Seye Johnson, the group’s Director of Media, it was claimed that two newly appointed cabinet members by the governor did not align with the aspirations of President Bola Tinubu during the recent polls.

The appointments have caused concerns among party members, with claims that those who dedicated their efforts to the APC at both the state and national levels have been overlooked.

The group emphasized the inappropriateness of rewarding someone who openly opposed the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, during the Akoko North-West/Akoko North-East House of Representatives election in 2023.

According to the group, Governor Aiyedatiwa’s appointments are heightening suspicions that he aims to undermine the APC’s presence in Ondo State.

One of the appointees had actively campaigned against BTO (Bunmi-Tunji Ojo) and expressed negative sentiments towards him on social media, questioning the governor’s decision to delay the announcement of the appointment to avoid backlash.

The group called on the APC’s national leaders to intervene and caution Aiyedatiwa to prevent political unrest in the party and the state.
