Former Premier League and Belgium striker Cedric Roussel dead at 45 after heart attack

Cedric Roussel, the former Premier League and Belgian striker, has sadly passed away at the age of 45 due to a heart attack. Roussel enjoyed playing for Coventry City and Wolves during his two-decade-long career. His former club, Coventry City, expressed their grief, stating, “Coventry City are deeply saddened to learn of the death of our former striker Cedric Roussel, at the age of just 45. Cedric played 43 games for the Sky Blues from 1999-2001, scoring 11 goals. Our condolences are with his family and friends at this very sad time.” Roussel, who earned three caps for Belgium, made a name for himself while playing for Mons in his home country. He had two separate spells with the club, scoring 22 goals during his first stint, where he was the leading goal scorer in the Belgian top-flight. Roussel also formed a partnership with Robbie Keane during his time at Mons. After struggling in his second campaign, he was sold to Wolves for £2m in 2001. Roussel later played in Russia, Italy, and Cyprus before retiring from professional football.
