Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala’s Response to Criticism Over Delayed Post with President Tinubu at the Paris Global Financial Summit

Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala addresses Nigerians who attacked her for her delay in posting her picture with President Tinubu at the Paris Global Financial summit

In response to criticism over the delay in posting her photo with President Tinubu at the Paris Global Financial summit, the Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has spoken out.

During the France economic summit, Okonjo-Iweala had shared several pictures with various world leaders but had not yet posted the picture she took with President Bola Tinubu at the Global Financing Pact’ summit convened by the French President, Emmanuel Macron.

Some Nigerians made it an issue, claiming that her decision not to post a photo with President Tinubu at the event showed disrespect.

She eventually posted a photo with President Tinubu from the event on her handle.

Addressing the criticism, Okonjo-Iweala urged Nigerians to relax and highlighted how the controversy has exposed the polarization in Nigerian society.

“Nigerians, please relax! Re Paris, interesting attacks from both sides. This sadly shows the depth of polarization in our society. I post photos in the order received by accompanying staff or colleagues. Reading more into it is unwarranted. Let’s unite to build our country, not attack.” she tweeted
