PZ Wilmar, in collaboration with The Global Alliance for Enhanced Nutrition (GAIN), is promoting awareness on food enrichment and recently conducted a training workshop on the subject at its factory in Lagos, involving selected media editors and civil society organizations.

The Global Alliance for Enhanced Nutrition (GAIN) is a foundation headquartered in Switzerland, established at the United Nations in 2002 to address the suffering caused by malnutrition.
The workshop, attended by PZ Wilmar leadership, civil society groups, media editors, and representatives of GAIN, allowed PZ Wilmar to showcase its food enrichment process as a leading industry player in Quality Systems and Food Enrichment in Nigeria. The workshop also featured a tour of the PZ Wilmar factory.
During the event in Lagos, Femi Ojumu, the Head of Manufacturing at PZ Wilmar, emphasized that the event highlights the organization’s products and processes, establishing it as a proponent of food enrichment practices in Nigeria.
“This event underscores our commitment to delivering high-quality food products to our consumers. It aligns with our dedication to responsible and healthy food production and consumption, placing Nigeria at the forefront of sustainable development in food manufacturing,” he said.
In 2021, PZ Wilmar was recognized as an Industry Leader in Quality Systems and Food Enrichment, with its food brands Devon King’s and Mamador emerging as the two most fortified food brands in Nigeria. PZ Wilmar also participated in the inaugural launch of the Micro Enrichment Index (MEI) in Nigeria, an initiative powered by TechnoServe.
The workshop agenda included presentations on Orientation and Introduction to the Food Enrichment Process, a tour of the PZ Wilmar Edible Oil Enrichment Facilities, and interactions with the Quality Control and Production Team.
Participants of the workshop praised the organizers, particularly PZ Wilmar, for its dedication to addressing malnutrition and increasing public awareness in Nigeria about the benefits of food enrichment.
