When a Florida man reportedly killed his pro-Trump boss at a construction site, it sent shockwaves through the community.
Mason Toney, 28, is now in custody following the alleged stabbing of his boss, 28-year-old William Knight, on Monday, January 20.
As a known Donald Trump supporter, Knight’s political beliefs are believed to be related to the motive behind the killing.
Authorities discovered Knight’s body covered with a new American flag at the crime scene in Orange County, Florida. The Orange County Sheriff’s Office suspects the murder to be sparked by a political dispute between the two men.
According to the preliminary report, the murder weapon was identified as a trowel, a common tool used in bricklaying.
Law enforcement indicates that there were multiple witnesses to the crime at the construction site near the Florida Turnpike.
After fleeing the scene in a white pick-up truck, the suspect was apprehended following a brief pursuit and subsequent crash in Brevard County.
Toney has been charged with first-degree murder and is presently held without bond in Orange County.
