Trump fires EU Ambassador Gordon Sondland, Alexander Vindman & his twin brother as revenge for testifying against him during impeachment inquiry

Trump took retribution on EU Ambassador Gordon Sondland, Alexander Vindman, and his twin brother for testifying against him during the impeachment inquiry. The move is being called the White House ‘Friday Night Massacre’ by political analysts.

Military personnel Lt. Colonel Alexander Vindman and his twin brother Yevgeny Vindman were dismissed from the White House, while Sondland, the EU Ambassador, issued a statement confirming his immediate removal from the position.

All three individuals had significant roles in the House of Representatives’ impeachment inquiry against Trump. There are expectations that Senator Mitt Romney will be Trump’s next target, as he was the sole Republican to vote for the removal of the President during the Senate vote.

Vindman’s attorney, David Pressman, released a statement regarding the firing, emphasizing Vindman’s dedication to truth and the consequences he faced as a result.

Sondland also confirmed his recall in a statement released on February 7th, expressing his gratitude for the opportunity to serve and acknowledging the achievements during his tenure.

Donald Trump Jr acknowledged Adam Schiff’s role in aiding the identification of individuals to be fired, in a tweet on the night of the dismissals.

Vindman, a Purple Heart recipient, had expressed concerns about the July 25 phone call between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. He believed it was inappropriate to pressure a foreign government to investigate a U.S. citizen and was worried about the implications for U.S. national security.

Earlier on Friday, Trump publicly stated his dissatisfaction with Vindman to reporters.

The actions taken by Trump have sparked public discourse, with many questioning the political implications and the precedent being set.
