Tinubu condoles with Jonathan over sister’s death

President Bola Tinubu expressed his condolences to former President Goodluck Jonathan following the passing of his elder sister, Madam Obebhatein Jonathan. Tinubu’s statement was conveyed through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, titled ‘President Tinubu condoles with Dr. Goodluck Jonathan over sister’s passing.’

Madam Obebhatein, also known as Amissi, was a teacher, businesswoman, mother, and grandmother. She passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at the Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, at the age of 70, after a brief illness.

Tinubu emphasized that Jonathan should find solace in the legacy of Amissi, who devoted her life to serving God and humanity. Additionally, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, also extended his condolences to Jonathan over the loss of his elder sister.

In a separate statement, Speaker Abbas described the death of Madam Obebhatein as painful and highlighted her dedication and sacrifice to humanity. He encouraged President Jonathan to take comfort in the fulfilling and impactful life Madam Obebhatein lived as a teacher, businesswoman, and Christian leader.

The family has scheduled the burial for Tuesday, February 16, 2024, with details of the funeral rites to be announced later.
