Exclusive: Mohbad’s father yet to apply for the release of his body despite police informing him he can, says he wants a DNA test – Official

The police in Lagos state has informed Joseph Aloba, the father of the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba aka Mohbad, that he can collect his son’s corpse at any time but he has not yet made an application to do so.

Recall that the singer’s mother released a video on Tuesday, November 21, stating that the body had been released to the father but he had refused for it to be reburied.

LIB’s findings revealed that following the conclusion of the autopsy, the police informed the father that he can come forward to collect the body, however, he has not made an application.

An anonymous police source speaking to LIB disclosed, “The body is in the morgue. It has not been released… The hospital wouldn’t allow it. Only the father can apply for the release of the corpse, and the police has said any day he applies, he would get it immediately. We have told them, anytime they want it, just write an application but the father has refused to do that. Technically, it is the father that is holding back. If the man writes today, of course it will be released and he must carry the corpse. You can’t write and keep it there. For who?”

It is important to note that the singer, who passed away on September 12, was buried the following day. After the controversy surrounding his demise, an autopsy was demanded for by Nigerians, and his body was exhumed on September 21. The autopsy result is yet to be made public, and the body has not been reburied since then.

Mr. Aloba has consistently stated that a DNA test must be done to ascertain the paternity of Liam, the seven-month-old son of late Mohbad and his wife, Wunmi.
