The FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, Seizes 69 Vehicles Amid Rising Insecurity

In a bid to address the growing issue of insecurity, the Minister of Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Nyesom Wike, impounded 69 vehicles on Monday for various offenses. This action is part of the ongoing efforts to ensure the safety and cleanliness of Abuja.

According to NAN, the FCT, in collaboration with the Security Task Force, impounded these vehicles from different locations in the federal capital of Abuja.

Mr. Abdulatef Bello, the Director of FCT Directorate of Road Traffic Service (DRTS), stated that these seizures were a continuation of operations aimed at removing illegal operators of commercial vehicles from the city.

He further explained that the primary objective of this exercise is to enhance the security of lives and properties in Abuja.

Bello revealed that the impounded vehicles were guilty of offenses such as incorrect parking, operating unsafe vehicles, violating number plate regulations, and suspected involvement in criminal activities such as “one chance” operations.

He emphasized that the FCT Administration is committed to ensuring that the city remains free from any form of nuisance.

Bello also confirmed that the owners of the impounded vehicles would face prosecution in the FCT Mobile Court located at the premises of the DRTS.

Additionally, he mentioned that three vehicle owners suspected to be involved in “one chance” operations will be handed over to the police for prosecution.

He attributed the high number of casualties resulting from “one chance” operators to the inadequacies of the existing mass transportation system in the city.
