Peter Obi vehemently denies allegations of bribing Arise TV’s Rufai Oseni

Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 election, has refuted claims suggesting that he bribed Rufai Oseni, a Nigerian Television presenter at Arise Television.

Oseni recently faced accusations of accepting bribes from the former Anambra Governor in order to enhance his public image.

The allegations mentioned that Obi financially supported the burial of Oseni’s father, which cemented their relationship.

However, Obi responded to these allegations with a statement on his Twitter page on Monday, categorically denying the report and asserting that it lacks any truth.

Obi highlighted that Rufai is a Television presenter known for fearlessly speaking truth to power, even when it comes to criticizing himself.

Part of the statement reads, “Those familiar with my corporate and political life know that I always address the issues at hand, focusing on finding solutions to societal challenges and alleviating the suffering of the people.”

“However, I feel the need to clarify a few matters, particularly because a third party is involved,” Obi added.

“Recently, my name has been wrongly associated with a baseless and cheap attempt to blackmail one of Nigeria’s finest Television presenters, Mr. Rufai Oseni. He has consistently championed what is right and fearlessly confronted me on certain occasions, speaking truth to power.”

Obi firmly emphasized, “I want to make it absolutely clear that these allegations of me bribing Rufai Oseni by financially supporting the burial of his father are completely false. They are not true, cannot be true, and will never be true. Anyone familiar with my approach knows that I do not give money to anyone to promote my name.”
