Okorocha loses Mbadiwe University to Imo Government

The ownership of Kingsley Ozumba Mbadiwe University, Ogboko, has been transferred from former Imo state Governor, Rochas Okorocha, to the Imo state government. This matter was settled on December 9 when the operating certificate of the university was handed over to Imo State by the National Universities Commission (NUC), with Governor Hope Uzodimma receiving the certificate at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja.

The NUC Executive Secretary, Prof Abubakar Rasheed, presented the certificate to the governor and stated that it would put an end to the feud over the ownership of the institution between the former Governor and the state government. He also informed that relevant bodies like the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) have been notified about this development.

Rasheed also pledged the commission’s support to Governor Uzodinma in the state’s educational endeavors.
