Abba Kyari remanded in NDLEA custody as judge postpones bail hearing

The bail hearing for Abba Kyari has been postponed, and he has been remanded in the custody of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) until March 14. This decision was made by Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday, March 7. Along with Kyari, six others including senior police officers and civilians were also remanded. Kyari pleaded ‘not guilty’ to the drug trafficking-related charges, while the others entered similar pleas. The NDLEA requested a trial date and the review of facts for the defendants who pleaded guilty. The defense argued that the charges were bailable offenses and opposed the review of facts, noting that it could be prejudicial to their clients. The case has been adjourned until March 14 to hear the bail application.
