FRSC official allegedly stabs driver to death in Abia

An official of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has allegedly stabbed a commercial bus driver to death in Isiala Ngwa Local Government Area of Abia State. The incident reportedly took place at Umuikaa junction along the Port Harcourt – Aba – Enugu Expressway on Tuesday, August 16.

According to eyewitnesses, a dispute between two FRSC officials and the bus driver escalated into a physical altercation, during which one of the FRSC officials allegedly stabbed the driver in the back. The driver was then taken to Ronald Hospital, Mkpuka, where he was pronounced dead by medical staff.

The Sector Commander of FRSC, Abia State, Mr. Paul Ugwu, stated that the full details of the incident are yet to be obtained from the Umuikaa office. Meanwhile, Chairman of Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area, Chief Iyke Anyatonwu, has strongly condemned the killing of the bus driver and urged the State Sector Commander of FRSC to promptly investigate the matter and apprehend the perpetrators.

The incident has sparked outrage, with concerns raised about the recurring unlawful activities of various security agencies at Umuikaa junction. The chairman has also pledged to assist in ensuring that those involved in the incident are brought to justice, describing the alleged killing as unacceptable.
