Duro Onabule, who served as Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida’s (IBB) spokesman during his time as Military Head of State, has passed away.
Onabule, who was born in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun state, breathed his last on Tuesday, August 16, at the age of 83.
He attended CMS Grammar School in Lagos before furthering his education at the London School of Journalism. Onabule commenced his journalism career at the Daily Express in 1961 before joining the Daily Sketch three years later.
After a stint at the Daily Sketch, Onabule returned to the Daily Express and later went on to work at the Daily Times in the 1970s. In 1984, he was appointed as the features editor at Concord press and subsequently ascended to the position of editor of the newspaper.
