Resignation of Three Commissioners from Fubara’s Cabinet Amid Escalating Crisis in Rivers State
On Wednesday, three Commissioners stepped down from their positions in the State Executive Council.
This development comes in the midst of the political turmoil engulfing the state due to the power struggle between the current governor, Siminalayi Fubara, and his immediate predecessor, Nyesom Wike.
The first to announce his resignation was Professor Prince Chinedu Mmom, the Commissioner for Education, who cited a "toxic" work environment as his reason for leaving in a letter sent to the governor through the office of the Secretary to the State Government.
Shortly after Mmom's resignation, Gift Worlu, the Commissioner for Housing, also submitted his resignation letter dated May 15, expressing gratitude to Fubara for the opportunity to serve in his administration.
