Commemorating One Year Since Tinubu’s Presidency Commenced

Today marks the completion of a full year since Bola Ahmed Tinubu assumed office as the president of Nigeria, the largest black nation on the planet. Tinubu is the fifth democratically elected president since the restoration of democracy in 1999, following his triumph in the tightly-contested 2023 presidential elections. Aged 72, Tinubu vied for the presidency under the banner of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, and emerged victorious over his main rivals, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and Peter Obi of the Labour Party, LP. His victory was met with a mix of reactions, including allegations of electoral misconduct and a contentious legal battle that ensued. Despite the controversies, Tinubu's inauguration on May 29, 2023, represented the start of a new ...

Amidst the government's self-congratulatory gestures, poverty and violence are on the rise, urging Tinubu to reconsider his strategies for the remainder of his tenure in order to leave behind a substantial legacy.
