87 Lawyers Promoted to Senior Advocate of Nigeria by LPPC

Chief Justice of Nigeria, Olukayode Ariwoola, led the Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee in elevating 87 legal practitioners to the esteemed rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria.

The announcement came during the LPPC’s 164th plenary session held on Thursday, signifying a significant honor within the Nigerian legal field, reserved for lawyers who have demonstrated exceptional skills and dedication in advocacy and academia.

Hajo Sarki Bello, the Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court of Nigeria and Secretary of the LPPC, highlighted the high standards met by the appointees while making the announcement.

Bello emphasized that the title of Senior Advocate of Nigeria is more than just a name; it is a testament to excellence and recognition of remarkable contributions to the legal realm.

Reviewing five petitions against certain applicants, the LPPC found them meritless and subsequently dismissed them, after a thorough investigation deemed them unsubstantiated.

The swearing-in ceremony for the new Senior Advocates of Nigeria is slated for Monday, 30 September 2024. The list of honorees consists of 86 advocates and one academic, listed in seniority order at the bar.

Notable appointees include Lateef Olaseinde Karim, Godwin Tagbo Ike, Johnson Odionu, Nnodim Marcellinus Duru, Innocent Adams Ovbagbedia, Soronnadi Anthony Njoku, and many others.

Prof. Ganiu Oke Adeyemi stands as the successful academic recipient among the appointees. The elevation to Senior Advocate of Nigeria signifies an outstanding achievement, showcasing the individual excellence of these legal practitioners and bolstering the legal profession in Nigeria as a whole.

Entrusted with upholding the highest professional standards, the new Senior Advocates of Nigeria are expected to serve as exemplars for their colleagues and the upcoming generation.
