7 Ghanaians arrested in Lagos for drug trafficking

The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended 7 Ghanaian nationals in Abule-Egba for alleged involvement in drug trafficking. The arrest, carried out on March 14 by officers from the Oke Odo Police Station, follows an attempt by the suspects to illicitly bring substances into the country.

During a routine patrol, law enforcement officers detained the individuals, who subsequently disclosed that they had been lured by a certain Okechukwu living in Ghana. Allegedly, he had taken money from them, promising to facilitate their journey to Libya but instead transported them to Nigeria and deserted them at Super Bus stop.

Bala Elkana, the spokesperson for the Lagos Police, confirmed the arrest and stated that three Ghanaian passports and some capsules suspected to contain illicit drugs were seized from the detained individuals. The investigation into the matter is ongoing.
