Police operatives from the Bariga Police Station, Lagos state police command, have arrested Christopher Lament, 45, of No 23 Jossy Castro Street, Lagos. He is accused of attempting to kill his wife, Comfort Christopher, at the same address, using a knife.
A statement released by the state police command spokesperson, Bala Elkana, today February 9th, indicated that the woman was rescued by the police following a distress call received. The knife was recovered and registered as an exhibit.
The couple, both from Akwa Ibom State, have been married for 13 years and have two children, ages 11 and 9. The suspect lost his banking job 5 years ago, and the woman is currently not working. The couple has been experiencing a series of crises related to marital issues and lack of maintenance. The reported incident, which led to the suspect attempting to stab the victim with a knife, began with a simple argument.
The police spokesperson, Bala, stated that the investigation is ongoing and the suspect will be charged to court soon.
