3 women arrested as 818 rounds of live ammunition were found concealed in bag of rice (video)

The discovery of 818 rounds of live ammunition concealed in a bag of rice led to the arrest of three women. They were identified as Eleana Yowei, 25, Favour Bello, 21, and Priye Jimi, 30. Eleana’s husband, Lance Corporal Yowei, was also detained by the Nigerian military. Eleana claimed she received the bag of rice from her husband, who brought it from Zamfara, and was instructed to pass it on to Favour, who would then deliver it to her mother in Bayelsa.

She stated that she trusted her husband and didn’t check the contents of the rice. Favour, a student at FCE Kano, confirmed the instructions given to her by Eleana’s husband and mentioned that she was unaware of the bag’s contents until it was opened at the park. Priye Jimi, Favour’s mother, also claimed ignorance about the content of the rice bag.

The Nigerian Police force spokesman, DCP Frank Mba, revealed that the ammunition was intercepted at a Kano car park by officers monitoring activities. He mentioned a total of 39 suspects, including the three females, being linked to various offenses such as kidnapping, armed robbery, cattle rustling, and gun running.

He urged against seeking quick wealth through criminal activities and emphasized the need for vigilance. A video related to the incident is also available for viewing: [link to the video].
