3-Storey Building Collapses in Lagos, NEMA Provides Update

A three-storey building located at 14 Ikpoh Street, Surulere, Lagos, collapsed on Friday night. Fortunately, there were no reported casualties, according to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).

Mr Ibrahim Farinloye, the Territorial Coordinator of NEMA, confirmed the incident to NAN in Lagos.

Occupants of the building were able to evacuate before the collapse, as stated by Mr Gervase Anyanwu, a businessman who resided there. He recalled hearing a loud sound from one wing of the building before it eventually collapsed.

Anyanwu emphasized that the timely evacuation of all occupants was due to divine intervention.

However, another resident on the street mentioned that the building had shown significant signs of distress prior to the collapse.

At present, the excavation of rubble from the collapsed building has not begun. Nevertheless, relevant government agencies responsible for emergency situations are present at the scene.
