238 Late Pensioners Receive N395m Death Benefits from PTAD

The Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) has disbursed a total of N395,559,795.09 as death benefits and gratuity to 238 retired pensioners as of July 19, 2024. This announcement was made by Dr. Chioma Ejikeme, the Executive Secretary of PTAD, during the opening ceremony of the agency’s Kwara State office in Ilorin.

Dr. Ejikeme emphasized the commitment of PTAD to addressing outstanding issues such as non-payment of gratuities to pensioners and ensuring that death benefits are promptly provided to the rightful beneficiaries. She highlighted the establishment of a comprehensive project in December 2023 to address complaints from next-of-kin and pensioners regarding unresolved payment issues.

Dr. Ejikeme mentioned that the ongoing project aims to thoroughly validate all pending claims for gratuity and next-of-kin benefits to prevent any erroneous payments. She stressed the importance of conducting meticulous checks and validations to ensure the accuracy and legitimacy of all disbursements.

PTAD has expanded its presence by establishing state offices in 11 locations across the country, with the latest addition being the office in Kwara State. Dr. Ejikeme encouraged pensioners to participate in the “I Am Alive” confirmation program and urged union executives to assist in disseminating this information among members.

Dr. Ejikeme expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his unwavering support in ensuring timely funding for pension payments and the settlement of outstanding pension obligations, demonstrating the government’s continued commitment to the welfare of pensioners.
