2 year old girl died after drinking toilet cleaner at home before being found by sister

The tragic incident transpired at home when a two-year-old girl, Arietta-Grace Barnett, ingested a poisonous household product, toilet cleaner, which later led to her demise. The distressing episode occurred in June last year, as revealed at the preliminary opening of the inquest at the Portsmouth Coroners Court. The girl was found by her sister after consuming the toxic substance. Despite being rushed to Southampton General Hospital and receiving treatment, Arietta-Grace returned home only to experience a nosebleed and start vomiting blood six days later, ultimately resulting in her death after being taken back to the hospital. The parents, Lucy Cook and Scott Barnett, were in attendance at the preliminary opening of the inquest, seeking a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding their daughter’s tragic passing. The area coroner for Hampshire, Portsmouth and Southampton, Rosamund Rhodes-Kemp, mentioned that a full inquest, scheduled to take place over two days, is pending, with the date and location yet to be determined.
