13-year-old girl in Ogun allegedly assaulted by a teacher

An individual identified as Femi Onayemi has been taken into custody by the Ogun State Police Command for reportedly assaulting a 13-year-old girl (referred to as “name withheld”) in the Obada-Oko region of the state.

As per details disclosed exclusively to PUNCH Metro by a police insider from the state command on Sunday, the suspect had previously been employed by the girl’s family to provide tuition to her at their residence in the community in 2023.

The survivor’s parents were surprised to find out that the suspect had climbed over the fence of their home to enter the 13-year-old’s room and commit the appalling act.

The state command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, affirmed the occurrence and announced the arrest of Onayemi.

She disclosed, “The guardians of the minor approached our Obada Oko division on June 12, 2024, to register a complaint. The suspect had been engaged in 2023 to assist the survivor with her academic studies at home.

“However, on June 9, 2024, the suspect was caught in the act after scaling the house’s fence. Our officers responded promptly upon receiving the report.

“It was also discovered that the suspect was attending the same church as the survivor and was apprehended after his confession.”

In a prior incident reported by PUNCH Metro in September 2023, a teacher identified as Joshua Olufemi from the Heritage Group of Schools in Ofada Town, Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State, had allegedly assaulted a 13-year-old male student.

Olufemi was accused of engaging in inappropriate behavior with the minor on numerous occasions inside his room before being arrested.
