10,000 New Constables Set to Begin Training on August 10, according to PSC

Announced on Monday, the Police Service Commission is ready to start the training for the recently recruited 10,000 constables.

Back in June, under the leadership of the former Chairman, Solomon Arase, the PSC enlisted 10,000 constables for the Nigeria Police force.

However, the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, rejected the new recruits, citing instances of corruption in the recruitment process.

The police alleged that some deserving candidates were swapped with unqualified individuals, a claim vehemently denied by the PSC.

The PSC stood firm on its decision not to cancel the recruitment.

In a statement issued on Monday, the PSC’s Head of Press and Public Relations, Ikechukwu Ani, advised successful applicants to visit the recruitment website for more information.

According to him, “The Police Recruitment Board has scheduled August 10, 2024, as the commencement date for the training of successful candidates from the 2022 constable recruitment exercise.

“Applicants are required to verify their status by logging in to the recruitment website for further training details.

“Specialist candidates, on the other hand, will begin training two months after the General Duty recruits. Specifics on their specialized training dates and locations will be disclosed in due course.

“The Police Service Commission expresses gratitude to all applicants for their patience and cooperation during the process to ensure the exercise was fair and widely accepted.”

Ani mentioned that the commission is committed to upholding meritocracy in the recruitment process.

He remarked, “The commission affirms its dedication to ensuring that recruitment in the Nigeria Police Force is based on merit and adherence to the Federal Character principles.

“Successful candidates are called to perceive their new status as a patriotic duty for the nation, emphasizing that the commission will oversee their training schemes to guarantee they are well-prepared to combat the security challenges confronting our country.”
